Photo Competition Rules and Regulations
A #KHEAMproject Promotion Action
- PARTICIPANTS – We don’t limit entrants/participants because of their age, income level,
disabilities, race or ethnicity, sex or anything! - EQUIPMENT – PHOTOS MUST BE SHOT BY MOBILE PHONE ONLY. Only editing performed via the same
device is permitted. - ENTRY SUBMISSION – You can enter a maximum of two (2) photos.
- TYPE – All styles of digital photos accepted – Colour and Black and White.
- CONTENT – All PHOTOS must feature an ecological or environmental aspect of the Kingston Harbour or its
immediate shoreline environs. - FORMAT – Photos must be submitted in either JPEG or PNG formats and must not be larger than 2MB.
- THEME – Each submission should be submitted with a one-line interpretation and should feature the
positive attributes or negative challenges associated with the Kingston Harbour Environment.
Focus themes may include: Mangroves, Gully Garbage, Climate Change, Waste Recycling, Ecosystem, Wildlife
and Eco-Tourism. - Social Media Platforms APPS – Facebook and Instagram.
- COPYRIGHTS – Copyrighted material is not accepted. (The #KHEAMproject will not be liable for any
copyright material unlawfully used). - TRANSFERRAL OF RIGHTS TO THE ORGANISER (#KHEAMproject) – The Participant maintains at all times
the rights to his/her photo entry. However, he/she grants the Organizer the right to present any submitted
photo, make it publicly available, distribute it and make it available for third party viewing unrestrictedly in
terms of location and frequency. Furthermore, the Participant expressly agrees to his/her photo being made
public via #KHEAMproject social media pages & the websites and media channels of our Partners. - RIGHTS TO ONE’S OWN PICTURE – By participating, the Participant agrees to photographs and recordings
being made of his/her person throughout the contest process and those photographs and recordings are to
be published on the related website and social pages. The Participant also understands that his/her name
may be published in connection with his/her photograph. - WHEN WILL THE SELECTION BE ANNOUNCED – The official 3 winners will be announced at our #KHEAMproject Conference and on our website and social media pages from 18th November 2022 onwards.
- HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL BE SELECTED? – 10 PHOTOS will be selected as finalists and the top three will
be awarded prizes from the #KHEAM project. First prize $100,000.00; second prize $60,000.00 and third
prize $40,000.00. The photos should be clearly related to the KHEAM Project objectives of raising awareness
about marine ecosystem and environmental issues, with reference to Kingston Harbour. - WHERE CAN THE OFFICIAL SELECTION BE VIEWED? – The officially selected 10 shortlisted photos can be
viewed on our Website, Instagram and Facebook pages from November 18, 2022. - HOW CAN I SUBMIT MY PHOTOS? – Photos must be submitted in digital format to All contributions must
be your own original material and must be submitted to mangrovequest@gmail.com by November 8, 2022
at 11:59pm (Jamaica time). - ELGIBILITY – All Jamaican citizens (residing in Jamaica).
